The VW TDIs are a hoot for all the torque they bring to the table, but I'm skeptical on longevity.
The trick will be to find out who's building Mahindra's motor, or if they bought the rights the VW's.

I spoke with a man at a soon-to-be Mahindra dealership recently who says they (M&M & GV) are looking at the option of using (some?) VW service centers to work on the Mahindra trucks, since they are so similar. He described it as basically a German engine. I was asking about warranty work and required maintenance, and whether the truck would have to go back to the dealership. He sounded like his location probably won't be servicing these trucks, and until numbers are there they may use this other option.
