Default Mazda diesel coming to US

Mazda is bringing a diesel engine to the US. If the car can tow 3000 pounds, for me the Mahindra is history.

Well hopefully they'll start bringing their OWN trucks over here once the Ford Ranger is done away with...as the Mazda trucks sold on these shores are nothing more than a Ford Ranger with their name slapped on it.

Go to the Mazda Australia website and get a load of the BT50!

if memory serves me the first vehicles will be the "6" "CX 7 & 9" I think the 2.2 liter motor was goign to go into the 6 but I am not sure about the CX vehciles. They will likely need a larger motor considering their relative size.

Mazda no longer makes a Ranger clone so i think we'd be SOL on any diesel truck.

After hearing today's news, I'm betting we see a diesel Jeep/Jeep pickup before any other diesel small pickup.

Well mahindra planet, I hope your right about the Jeep pickup. Where there's competition there's growth in the industry. The waves of competition are starting to ripple, figureatively speaking. Hope everything goes well for Mahindra, please don't forget about western Canada; after all that's where the diesel comes from. Best wishes stove warrior

I saw on autoblog that nissan/renault will have a new small diesel motor compliant with something more restrictive than T2B5 by the end of 2011. I am not sure if it would make it over here since it was 1.5 or 1.7 lites. it might work in the compact and sub-compact car markets (sentra, cube, juke, versa).
