Register to stop seeing this ad! I threw up (barfed?) a new poll on Mahindra Planet. Everyone gets to weigh in on when they think Mahindra will actually begin delivering a physical product, instead of delay announcements. The poll is on the right side below the crowd-sourced TR.What do all of you think?

I am the sole vote thus far and I put in early srping 2011. I honestly think we'll get the new model truck with the new platform rather than the existing model. It will probably have the same drivetrain so the testing and certification should remain intact. I guess if that happens it would be later 2011 but what the heck!

I agree, howam00. I am thinking spring, purely because they haven’t stuck to a date so far. I am also with you in hoping they bag the current truck and bring in the next generation Scorpio/TR.
No matter what, they need to hit us with their best effort. Just wish Mahindra would tell us what’s really going on.

It's weird to say this, but the trucks arriving as early as first quarter 2011 sounds optimistic. I suppose there have been so many proclamations of arrival dates that they don't mean a thing now. I notice that at this time there have been no votes for trucks to show up by the end of the year, and we haven't seen any concrete reason to believe that they will. I can't even say I hope they will show up in December- let's just say I'd be shocked if they were. Like you suggested, Chris, for all these delays and disappointments what they show up with (and I do believe that eventually they will show up with something) better be darned good.

I think Mahindra needs to establish a market presence in 2011 or they won't have any chance. I read comments by some people on this forum who just want a diesel and don't care about anything else. If they can't afford a HD diesel pickup (most are over $50K), they'll get a Mahindra, I don't think there are enough of them to keep Mahindra in the U.S.
I anticipate sometime in 2012 all the established manufacturers will be or announce plans to, put a direct injected turbo charged gasoline in their pickups. Nissan or Toyota, probably both) will announce plans to sell a capable pickup that gets 30 mpg. Once that happens, most of the appeal of Mahindra will be gone. An ecoboost type engine will get the same mileage, have a very similar torque curve, run on cheaper fuel, not require DEF, and have a lower price. Of course I could be totally wrong and we may all be driving diesels in 10 years. |

The world ends in 2012 so they might as well release them in 2011 just for kicks.

The bigger question is, will M&M bring the Reva to the states before the trucks?
