I think that is great to spread a little information around, it's just the kind of thing I was hoping they'd do. One thing that caught my eye:

"Some states,
like California, which have more intense regulatory demands, will
come on stream in the latter portion of the launch; however, the
vehicles should be certified for sale in all 50 states by the middle
of 2011."

I don't recall seeing it mentioned before, so it makes me wonder if getting the trucks to pass California regulation demands had been a factor in one or more of the delays of the predicted launch date.

you can buy it at Napa, Schuck's, Checker, etc. It should be readily availabel and fairly cheap. a couple of dollars a gallon and no more than a gallon or two per 10,000 miles.

If it is having troubles with the CARB requirements it is therefore having trouble in the other 6 states that match CARB standards. I bet this is resolved before the trucks ship but maybe those markets will still be the last to recieve thier initial shipments

Both hp and torque are light. I bet this gives them some headroom for improvements in newer models. Look and Ford just upping the new scorpion 6.7 by what 65 lbs of torque.

I'd fully expect the 2.2 to be able to easily hit 165-176 hp and 264-286 lbs of torque if Mahindra wanted it to. Of course by that token the Ford 6.7 should be over 500 hp

By time I am in the market (2013 i hope) the newer frame and body will be out with a power bump to match.

What is the 0-60 mph time on these trucks? I'm trying to get an idea for power to weight ratio.

The Australian model is not the same engine, but it is listed at 0-62 (100 km h) in 18.3 seconds. Probably close enough to say 0-60 in 18 seconds. This is the latest review on 2010 model PiKup,
http://www.caradvice.com.au/65137/ma...iew-road-test/

Looks like the American model will be substantially faster if I did all my metric conversion correctly
Australian 106 HP, 2.5 L, 182 ft lbs torque
NA model 140 HP, 2.2 L, 240 ft lbs

I'm pulling this information from an Indian site (cardekho.com) that specifies a Scorpio SLE with 2.2l mHawk engine and 5 speed manual transmission. The gross weight is given as 2510 kgs. and the acceleration is posted at 0-100 km/h in 16.5 seconds. I believe this is information on the SUV and not on the pickup truck variant, but it is a reference point with the engine that we're supposed to get someday.

Fuel economy is posted at 10.5 kmpl city and 15.4kmpl highway

Today's EPA news explains the recent communication between GV and the dealers. I'm sure Max Butler was pretty happy to be able to share some good news with the dealers. Let's hope Mahindra and GV have come to some kind of agreement.
