Default If the US Mahindra mpg is comparable to Australia's.....

Register to stop seeing this ad!

Looking around in Australia's google, one can find quite a bit of information about their version of the Mahindra. The number I have seen them claiming is 9.9 Liters/100 km combined efficiency, they didn't differentiate between the 2wd or 4wd models.

This works out to be 23.86 mpg.
(3.78 liters = 1 gallon)
(1.6 km = 1 mile)

With it being diesel, the cost per mile is still similar to a truck that gets 19.88 mpg. (Diesel being 20% more assumption).

Just opening this up for discussion.

Is there anything different about the US powertrain?
If not then 30 mpg might be possible on the freeway but optimism about 30mpg combined would be very misplaced.

I think most of us would agree with you, it does sound overly optimistic but yes tere are difference between the Oz version and the US version.

We are gettign the 2.2 mHawk and the Oz version hast 2.5 or 2.6 older motor. I want to say that one other market has the newer 2.2 (Brazil maybe?!) and they are getting better mpg's than the Oz powertrain but no more than a couple mpg's I think.

I'd bet money that the 30 mpg isn't combined and that was a big typo by GV or Mahindra.

One other thing to consider is the fact that the Aussie version is geared a lot lower than the trucks we'll probably be recvieving on these shores as well.

I have seen 6.6L per 100 which works out to close to 30MPG, IIRC. I hope this is close to what we can expect.
