India is a third world country that has been dealing with other third world countries.Maybe they are used to dictating their terms as they go along and have gotten away with it for the most part. That ain't how they will do business here as they are finding out. They made a binding deal with GV and are trying to crawdad out of it....tough **** m&m.As for the trucks finally getting here,we'll see.I personally will wait and hope that the trucks sell well enough where the more REPUTABLE manufacturers will enter the diesel market with BETTER trucks. As it stands now I would rather my money went to Japan or detroit before it goes to India.......JMHO.

Default distribution agreement cancelled...

I gues that Mahindra & Mahindra does not realize that, by announcing the the cancellation of the GV agreement, they are going to have a hard time finding another distributor who is willing to conduct business with them... much less find customers who are willing to take a chance on their product.

The EPA news is good though!

Hrrm, curious as to what the future holds.

I posted this a while back and believe it's still pertinent.

Quote:
As much as I would like to believe that these pickups will be making their US debut in the near future, I couldn't help but shake the feeling that these stories of delays were all to familiar and similar to a story that I read in a WIRED Magazine article a few years back about an auto importer promising delivery of a number of different Green and EV's to many floundering dealerships that banked what little funds they had on the promise of vehicles that would thrive in a lean, snakebitten, auto market.

Hype Machine: Searching for ZAP's Fleet of No-Show Green Cars

The similarities in stories between Zap and Global Vehicles USA, were enough to pique my interest in delving further into GV USA's history. In this day of age, with all the information outlets available, it just seems so odd that valuable pertinent information regarding a US launch of a new vehicle would be so hard to acquire. As to why Mahindra and their representatives have been so tight lipped and have released such little information specifically targeted to the US market, I guess I will never know. But after a little looking, I happened upon John Perez's earlier venture with the Cross Lander

ARO - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Please come to your own conclusions upon reading some of this information. Personally, I'm no longer interested in hearing of anything from GV USA. Operating within a vacuum and releasing cryptic information may be enough to maintain sustainability, but I want to hear from Pawan Goenka and other Mahindra brass, about what is really going on. Why the reluctance to address this market that Mahindra is attempting to enter, the lack of disclosure of information, and the murky details and relationship between GV USA??? Lucky for me, I'm only a prospective consumer so I really don't have any vested interest in the vehicle sales in the US, aside from wanting to potentially purchase one.
Honestly, I'm not the least bit surprised by this news. However, I'm a bit surprised by some of the comments I've read and that people believe that GV is a credible business with a successful track record. With all the instant information available these days I can't say that I think GV passes the "eyeball test", and it doesn't look any better once you really start doing some research. And thinking aloud, why would anyone create a business and give it a name that is nearly identical to an existing vehicle exporter? That's either a massive mental error deserving of failure or calculated misdirection, IMHO.

I read that article a while ago. What Perez was trying to do then was BUILD the vehicles and sell them.Altogether different from what he has accomplished with the m&m endeavor.Apples and oranges.

And this article tells the story a little different than the Wikipedia entry. Not saying that one is closer to the truth than the other though:

Anyone hear anything out of GV on the status of things, I noticed they removed the link from thier website to mahindra. I tried calling GV and when I spoke to the person that answered the phone about what was going on she said "hold on a minute" and hung up on me. Not to impressed with them at the moment. Our dealer principal also has not gotten any info from GV in a few days. Not looking good I'd say......
