Default Does anyone know...

Register to stop seeing this ad!

I have been all over the Mahindra USA and Australian sites, and maybe I just can see the tree for the forest, but does anyone know if the trucks will have a high/low range transmission?

Now that it looks like it will be this December Mahindra is back on my radar.

Thanks!

Tad

Default Low Range - - Think So

ROW models all have Hi/Low range transfer cases.
One member with dealership ties stated that a Borg-Warner transfer case was used & there are limited slip axles.

But who really knows until real spec sheets and vehicles appear.

Search the site for "Low Range"

I didn't find a photo of the controls on a pickup, but I did find the ones for the Scorpio, and I believe they are the same as on the pickup:
Scorpio VLX mhawk 4WD with Air Bags 5000kms update - Team-BHP

you'll have to scroll down through several pictures to find it, but it is there- high and low range 4wd.

Great! Thank you. I don't know if I like the idea of an electronic transfer box... I just will have to wait and see one in person.

Welcome to the forum, bikes, hadn't seen you post before.
As for "electronic" transfer cases (switch controls a solenoid in the case that shifts between ranges), they've been in use here for decades. If M&M is using one, and the case is from a reputable manufacturer (which I believe it is), then this shouldn't be an issue.

My current 4wd is a '65 Land Rover - only electronics on that are the lights!

LOL! Gotcha! My F350 is actually pretty "basic" also, it's an auto tranny, but has manual hubs and transfer case. But a dash-switch and auto-lockers were available...

It'll be interesting to see and feel the TRs if they show up. So much turmoil, but lots of potential...

I'll still be driving my '83 Isuzu diesel 4x4 long bed P'up long after these trucks ever hit the market. Looking forward to the day I can go on a test drive. Still can't believe with all the brown rice and bark eaters in the world, no one is building a clean burning turbo diesel mid-sized pu and suv. Look how many years GM blew it with the 6.2 and 6.5 before the Isuzu Duramax.

Default a list of Mahindra owners forums?

A few posts back I cited an Indian forum that included Scorpio owners' comments, and months ago there was information from an Australian forum with Pikup owners' comments. Basically they were relating their likes and dislikes with the product. One thing that clicked in my mind reading the recent Scorpio comments was the electrical problems they were having, it reminded me of some of the Aussie comments- various components had stopped working, it was radio in one, horn in another, tire pressure monitor, I wasn't making a list. Generally one trip to the dealer and it was corrected, but if I take anything from their comments it makes me think that these trucks might not be that strong in the quality control and electrical system reliability area. On the plus side, the local dealers seem to be doing their part, and none of the owners were sorry they'd bought the vehicle. I really need to go back to those forums and search out more information from actual owners, maybe Andy can provide a place to put a list of worldwide forums that feature Mahindra truck and SUV owners- if anyone is considering buying one of these trucks it would behoove them to do their homework, and what better source than from those people who already drive one?
