Chrysler has announced the 2013 Diesel Jeep grand cherokee is definately going to happen.

Diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee coming in 2013 - Autoweek

A diesel wrangler would be sweet also!

My sister has a 2007 Jeep Grand cherokee with the 3.0 liter Mercedes Diesel engine and that thing has been flawless!

Long time no see guys.

I have a distinct feeling that this new VM 3.0 is going to be the diesel that makes it into the updated Ram 1500 in a year or so. Chrysler/Fiat needs to spread the cost of federalizing this motor and the Grand Cherokee just won't sell in the volumes needed, the Ram will.

I bet we see this in the Ram and possibly the Dakota replacement as the top motor, included as a mid level motor for the 2500's (not the 3500 though) and probably in the next round of minivans and Durango. It is perfectly suited to the ZF 8 speed and should have the torque to keep the tranny in the top gears for the best mileage.

Speaking of new power plants I was talking to someone recently who's company has about 50 f250 4x4s on the road up and down the east coast . They have racked up a lot of miles on these new 6.7 L and they love them . Getting well over 20 mpg , even the ones with a lift and over sized tires . That's better than my new Tacoma , with about 5000 miles I'm getting 19 - 21 mpg .

Nissan is also working with Cummins on a 4 cyl diesel that should appear late 2012/early 2013 PROVIDING.....that the diesel still passes the new fed regs AND delivers 30mpg or damn close to it.If they can't achive the high mileage expectations, they will cancel the program.BTW,it's only for their full size Titan.Very interesting....

If Nissan can squeeze 30 m.p.g. out of a diesel lugging around a Titan, it seems like the same engine would get even better mileage with a lighter body like the Frontier. They probably think they'd lose sales of the bigger truck, and I'd have to agree. So why couldn't Mahindra get better results than they did from their engine in the TR40 4wd?

I have no idea why they don't do something with the frontier. It would be nice to have them both with diesel options......who knows. As for mahindra,I've said this before, that was the best they could do because they are third world, think 3rd world, and do business as 3rd world. That is why they just fell apart here in the USA.

When I was looking at a Nissan the sales guy said the NV van would be first in 2013 and the Titan may get it in 2014.

Not sure what a salesman REALLY knows, however when I read the article it was tentatively set for 2013,with no mention of a van.

If I remember correctly Nissan was planning a diesel for the new smaller truck possibly in 2014. I haven't read much on anything new since I got my 2012 Tacoma , love it so far but hate the transmission ....
