Register to stop seeing this ad! I'd go with the Ford Ranger. I believe they are the only small truck with stake holes in the bed rails. If I could find a used reg cab long bed I would consider it over a new Mahindra. Depends on the price of the Mahindra.mike |

I guess I would just keep my old diesel landcruiser. The diesel part of the equation is huge for me and I don't want or need a full-size p-up. I want something I can run Bio in, not because I'm granola-head, I just hate arabs !

The new Volkswagon Diesel wagon and buy an enclosed trailer to tow behind it. The new wagon has excellent performance, is very large, can tow over 3000 pounds and get up to 40 mpg. When I need to haul junk or farm supplies I can hook it to a trailer.

What I'd REALLY like to see is a Nissan Patrol offered to the US market (as they already offer it to most of the world except...North America!)
You can check one out at Google Image Result for http://www.cbn.co.za/images/motoring/290508nissan.jpg I never could understand all these great, small 4x4 diesel pickups offered by car companies to the entire planet - EXCEPT the US and Canadian markets. I would think that, outside of Australia and South Africa, the US and Canada would be the two BIGGEST pickup truck markets on earth! That being said...I'm still hoping they offer the Mihandra here soon. I can't purchase anything for at least another year, so I have a bit of time. But the sooner this vehicle gets here and proves itself, the better. If the quality and performance are what they claim, it will be a HUGE hit here. As far as its looks - it seems to be a personal taste thing. Some people complain that it looks too "old" or "simple." Others point out that that's one of the main things they like about it. Personally, I love the looks of this truck! If nothing else, it will definitely have it's own niche in the North American market. My only concern is the cost. True, by today's standards, $22k for a 4x4 diesel pickup isn't bad. But this truck is pretty much unknown here in the States (and I assume Canada as well). It doesn't have the reputation behind it yet. If they could bring the cost down to around $17k, at least for the first two or three years, that would be a great idea. Still..I think this truck will do great here. Also wish the GV and/or Mihandra people would be more forthcoming about information and keep the media in the loop. Advertising sells, guys! Hey, I need a job (recently laid off from tier 1 auto component manufacturing industry AND have a college degree with communications minor), and they seem to need some help! Wonder if I could get on board with them in some capacity here in the US - preferably in the Chicago area? |

I won't know until I see an actual dealer list to know if a TR40 is a viable truck for me. I haven't seen any confirmed dealers within 1000 miles. I am assuming that initially all repairs and parts are going to have to be done at a dealer.
I can get supplier pricing on a Nissan Frontier. It would cost about $22K for a 4X4 with a V6. The big disadvantage of the Nissan is fuel mileage. Assuming a TR40 gets 30 mpg, the Nissan could cost me over $100 more per month in fuel than the TR40. I think there are still too many unknowns for anyone to say with absolute certainty a Mahindra will be their first choice. We still don't know Mahindra pricing and I don't think anyone on the forum has driven one. There are also lots of little details that I haven't heard anyone mention. Urea freezes at 5F. Is the urea tank heated? Are there any bed hooks? Did they use galvanized steel? |

If Mahindra doesn't pan out....
I'll just keep gassing up the 05 Tundra Double-Cab until SOMEONE has the balls to bring a small diesel pickup truck back to the market (I'm rooting for Isuzu!!!) I hear Ford may be pulling their V6 diesel out of the mothballs again and GM has one sitting in mothballs too in a Duramax format that makes me drool too.... Darn economy killed a lot of plans for smaller diesels. Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, and several others all have INCREDIBLE diesel engines over sea's but they all have "no immediate plans" to bring them to US shores. Come on Mahindra! You can do it! We're all rootin' for you! Bring that truck over here.... Man, I'd LOVE to have a diesel engine under the hood of a truck again! I just can't justify a Dodge/Chevy/Ford 3/4 ton truck for my needs. |

It looks good, except the fuel economy isn't so great. |
