Hey guys, I was reading a article about why is Diesel costing more than gasoline, and one of the things they say is that the only time the gas and diesel are about the same price or cheaper than gas, in the USA, is during summer time, because American families are travelling and the demand of gas increase, so does the price, than in the fall and winter, the demand of diesel is greater (heating homes, etc).
So, I have the feeling that Mahindra is waiting for that. I am sure they are thinking that they would have even a greater impact if the launch at that time. In fact, the reason why we did not get this truck in 08 & 2009 was in fact because of gas prices in 2007/08 !!
I would love to be wrong about this, but what do you think????

Here's an interesting chart on diesel prices over the last couple of years:

It's run by the Department of Energy and is updated on a weekly basis.
Here's the direct link to it:

Default Mahindra Launch Delay

Let me put on my tin-foil hat here.

It would appear to me that the reason for the oft delayed launch of the Mahindra pickups in the USA has nothing to do with Mahindra or Global Vehicles. I suspect that the US government is dragging it's feet in granting approval to allow Mahindra to sell anything in the USA.

Since our government has been completely taken over by Communists who are beholden to the UAW and other labor unions, I don't think they are going to allow Mahindra or any other foreign manufacturer to bring a new product to market here, especially since our Communist government has seized control of two of the three domestic auto makers. Look for the US government to put the squeeze on Ford to either make them submit to government and union control or force them out of business.

Our Communist government is not going to let Mahindra or anyone else bring a product here that would take sales away from GM (Government Motors) or Chrysler. They will slowly trim the product offering until all that is available is some POS little three cylinder 40HP deathtrap that meets the approval of the tree huggers. Our Communist government is going to force us to live the way they think that we need to. After all, they are so much smarter than we ignorant peasants are. We don't know what is good for us!

Of course, the government will never come right out and tell Mahindra that there is no way they will ever approve their trucks to be sold here. They will keep stringing Mahindra along, bleeding them for more and more money. And Mahindra doesn't want to come out publicly and say what the real reasons for the continuing delays are because that would really piss off the US government and Mahindra would blow all hopes of ever getting approval.

Look up the East German Trabi on the internet. That was the Communist produced car for the masses. It had a cardboard body (no kidding!) that was treated with some toxic substance to make it waterproof. If you wanted one you had to get on a waiting list for about ten years and then save 50% of your meager monthly salary to be able to pay for it when you finally reached the top of the list and your local Communist Party official said you could have a car. Here we have the future of the American auto industry under Hope and Change!

Default Price

Mahindra really has almost completly scarred me off with their lack of comunication/miscomunications ( too many BLOWN launch dates ) not to mention their amazingly HIGH PRICE or at least compaired to what they had first said the price would be. If you have been following this for a while like I have you would remember the $13,000.00 starting price that has now jumped to $22,000.00, thats way too high when I can get a Ford Ranger for alot less (recently on sale for $10,000.00 new) and 27mpg. I am reading a mixed bag on its reviews, good and bad. I have also been following the Ford Eco-Boost and have recently read that it might even give better than thought mpg. Looks like the F-150 could possibly hit 23 city and 27 highway.......and an established dealer 5 minutes away.. Anyway thats how I'm feeling about Mahindra latley..

Default Where are those E.P.A. figures?

Don't forget, they still haven't released the fuel economy figures for the Mahindra- if it doesn't get at least 30 mpg highway (hopefully they will do a lot better than that) they are toast in my book. And where are those crash test results? Diesel being more expensive, purchase price of Mahindra higher, reputation not as solid, import brand during hard economic times for the country, no manual transmission, not much flexibility on available options, new vehicle with new dealer and support network, it is looking like there are more reasons against buying a Mahindra than for. If the economy figures aren't there I don't plan to even test drive one. It looks like the best thing that may come out of the launch would be pressuring Ford to rise to the competition with an improved Ranger. Come on Mahindra, give us some good reasons why we should buy your truck. We're listening.

I bet crash results come out about the same time the truck does with a sleight of hands advertising to pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Well, I guess the only good thing about mahindra having the trucks for sale this summer, is that all of the 2011 and the new F-150 should be out, and we can really compare the
"cost -benefit" of Mahindra.

PS: Even if the trucks arrive in April, don't you guys think that Mahindra will hold back the sales until the Dealer are stablished and they have had the change of doing the US truck demonstration, travelling around the US??
So, it is very possible that they may not be ready to sell them until June/July....
Well, who cares, Mahindra sure does not. Even this April date I had to do some research to find it, since they had not officially said anything but "end of Spring"/
I tell you... last time I was like that was when I wanted to get the new 2005 model Harley (was a new style) in December, and the bike did not sell until July!!
Here I go again...
