Default Import to Canada

Register to stop seeing this ad!

I've looked a bit into what it takes to import vehicles to Canada. The first step appears to be to have the vehicle listed on Transport Canada's list of admissible vehicles. That requires the manufacturer to send documentation to Transport Canada showing that the vehicle does or can comply with Canadian motor vehicle safety standards.

So Mahindra has to be willing to take that step before anything can happen. If any readers here are from Canada and would like it to be possible to import Mahindras from the US, contact Mahindra through http://www.mahindrana.com/ and let them know you are interested!

Default Gonna keep hoping...

I got the same response. Replied asking if they could provide the documentation to Transport Canada that would get the trucks listed on the admissible vehicles list so that Canadians could buy in the US and bring them home. We don't have to have Mahindra bring the trucks to Canada, just make it possible for us to bring them ourselves!

Might be the same amount of work from their point of view though, I don't know.

I saw a thread elsewhere re Spyker cars where in January 09 someone was working on getting them onto the Transport Canada list and didn't seem to be making any progress. Then by March 09 (if I remember correctly) there was a dealership preparing to open in Calgary. If it can happen for some $300K thing that they'll sell how many of? I sure hope it can happen for a vehicle that's practical and has no equal in Canada.
