Why does the TR20 only have two seats? It really should be a bench seat designed for 3 people.

The 2 seats would only work for a single person or a couple with no kids. Three seats would fit my family of three people and have a lot more bed hauling capacity than the TR40.

I think businesses would prefer the bench seat as well, especially if we are going to get the upfitter ready, chassis cab trucks like Australia.

Oh God. Please don't start redesigning the trucks now.

I think it should be an available option for bench seat as I prefer bucket seats, I have the 60/40 bench in my Colorado and wish i could have gotten bucket seats instead. Just my opinion.

Default options

That's one of the things I've got against the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Tacoma both- they don't offer bucket seats as an option in the models I'm interested in. Yes, if you upgrade and up the price eventually you can get bucket seats, but that doesn't suit me. I know I'll be giving up the benefit of occasionally squeezing three across (not so convenient with a stick shift), but if I wanted to haul passengers I'd look at the TR40 or a Ranger. I'm sure that if all that is stopping you is the seats, you can find a place to fit new seats in there. Right now they're not offering much flexibility on options- standard or deluxe, but that will probably change when they set up to manufacture in this country. You forgot to say that no exterior cargo tie down hooks is a deal breaker, anyway. lol

Buckets are nice for individual comfort and control in the twistys but I personally think most of the TR20's will be for light commercial duty as opposed for consumer use. Businesses need the ability to haul a couple of employees versus only 2 for things like installation, deliver, etc.

Just my opinion. I'll just be happy when they are here in flesh...err sheet metal

Default bench seats in a small truck are for 2-1/2 people.

A bench seat is a good way to carry the occasional third person, but in this size truck it can get VERY familiar (even more so with a stick shift), and I wouldn't want to do it for a regular solution. It would be okay if it were just a little kid in the middle, but three adults need adult size space if they're traveling any distance. Incidentally, this would be a work truck for me, but I don't need to carry two more- if I did I'd look at something different. My current vehicle is a small pickup with a bench seat, so I know how tight it can be.

I am with you pee wee on the small trunk bench seat issue. From the pictures too, the AT shifter is on the floor, not on the column either, so lets not try to inspire another redesign.

It would be cramped w/ three across. Just like my old S10 was. And back then I had little kids. I've had regular cab pickups for a long time, and a mess of kids. Hardly ever had three across. That's what the station wagon was for...
If anything I'd think they'd want to extend the bed length on the '40 to at least 6 ft like the optional bed on the Taco...
just a thought...

cheers,
-pete

I am all for a little longer bed option on the TR40. That is exactly what I want to have.

The way the TR40 bed hangs off the back they sure need a slightly longer wheelbase option. Maybe the next generation?
