Default Will the Mahindra Run B100 fuel

Register to stop seeing this ad!

The big question is will they screw up the fuel injection system when these trucks make their way to the states. I have read the overseas Mahindras work great on Bio-Diesel. I have a machine that makes bio-diesel very well. I have been running straight B100 in a Dodge 2500 for years with no problems. I would love to get a Mahindra, but its got to run B100. Does anyone know about this?

Default Mahindra and biodiesel

The TR20/TR40 will have an exhaust emissions system with a particulate trap and catalysts.

I'm pretty sure you will plug up that trap if running biodiesel. Post warranty, do what you want but the vehicle may not run without re-programming the ECU.

As with most other diesels, someone will eventually figure out a way to bypass the original equipment to enhance performance. It will be a long time before that happens.

Good luck with your dodge and B100 production..........J

Crapster, Go figure....They run biodiesel fine in India, but you're right once they come to the states they will load them up with all the emissions crap and wont run Bio very well. My next option is buy the Nissan all electric car the "Leaf" due out in Dec 2010, or wait for the much hype Chevy Volt to come out in 2011.

I don't have 32K for a short range Versa. That's what the Leaf is.

Update, Just got this in the INbox

The leaf is expensive, but I think there are a whole bunch of rebates and tax incentives that make it "reasonable." I was reading an article in the NY Times that states it qualifies for a $7500 federal tax credit along with other state incentives. That bumps the price down quite a bit. Not my cup of tea, but it is interesting.

It will be a great choice for some and not functional for others. At least they stepped up to the plate to offer a vehcile like this.

The new Ford and GM diesels will run B20, not sure about Dodge. B100 is probably not an option given the emissions equipment we *think* the TR's will have.

Welcome DR!
