Register to stop seeing this ad! “We will start exporting our Scorpio platform vehicle (Pick Up Trucks) in the US markets by February-March 2010. We plan to start with around 2,000 vehicles and hope that the US will be our biggest export market soon,” M&M executive vice-president (International Operations Automotive sector) P.N. Shah told reporters…Dear Mahindra Dealers, In my December video, I stated Mahindra was very close to completing all certifications necessary to begin production and launch in the spring of 2010. You now have confirmation straight from the horse’s mouth. “We are fully ready with the product (customised for the US market) and even the US manufacturing facility.
................ and later take a call on contracting it to somebody or investing in a small plant." So do they have a US mfg facility or not. Once again, an unclear statement..... |

Until they have their certification in the US there will be no definite plans. I do know they are currently in a partnership with Navistar and would like to use one of their facilities to mfg them here. I get weekly emails from GV letting us know the progress. We have a large investment in the new franchise and believe me when I say we are ready for the trucks to get here.

No news as of yet. I get weekly updates directly from GV and will keep you posted with any progress. I am hoping to see trucks late March first part of April. Once the cert has been passed it will be pretty fast moving from there. They have the product ready to roll, they just don't want to have to modify any finished product if they have to change anything. I have been told they will start with 2000 production units and ship from the east to west once they hit NJ which is to be the port of entry.

One thing to keep in mind we are relying on the US Government for the certification. That's like relying on the satallite guy to show up on time.

Hay, NJ POE might be better for me if they ship to the closest dealers first but what happened to using Brunswick, GA

It's a whole new ballgame for them. Could be the initial tests didn't fair well and they're in debate, tweak, and planning a do over. |

I think they should be pretty close due to the revamping of the Australian units they originally introduced in 2007. From what I understand they dressed them up a little more Amreican style with larger door handles and other saftey features before they submitted them for certification. There are a couple of other things they are working on for the consumer as well such as what is the powertrain coverage going to be. Initially we were told it is going to be between 150k miles and 250k miles. What we do know is the bumper to bumper warranty will be the 4/60000. I tell you what, with the fuel mileage, cost and total warranty they are going to be hard to compete with.
