It looks like they're making changes to the Scorpio as built for the Indian market, possibly to bring it closer to what other markets are getting:

The article mentions; a new SUV, a crossover, and another pickup. You have to take some of these India “news” sites with a grain of salt, but Mahindra may be feeling that they need to land on US soil with a more complete and updated line up. The W201 crossover has been designed for Western markets and is likely to make it to the US (especially now that Mahindra can cherry pick suitable Ssangyong powertrains). A next generation body-on-frame Scorpio and pickup have been double secret probation rumors for a while now. The MUC has been becoming more of a reality as single and double cab Xylo pickup test mules have been spotted in India recently. The Mahindra saga never fails to keep us entertained.
