With regard to the anti-Mahindra comment from the other forum,
There's no question the TR40/TR20 will be very polarizing. It'll probably get poor reviews and surpass the Pontiac Aztek as the ugliest vehicle ever to hit US soil. I think many people will buy it because they want a small diesel and don't care about anything else. Other's will buy it because they need a small truck and can't stomach 20 mpg. His comment about going to a dealer for all repairs and parts availability is a very valid concern. If you buy a Mahindra for your daily driver, you need to be concerned about parts availability and the inconvenience and cost of going to a dealer for all repairs. I think you'd be foolish to buy a Mahindra if your closest dealer is 100 miles away. On the other hand, if you buy a 6 cylinder Frontier or Tacoma, you're taking a risk with regards to gas prices. If gas prices go up to $4 again, I would spending more over $100 extra a month to fuel a Tacoma versus a TR40. That's assuming diesel costs around premium unleaded and the TR40 gets 30 mpg. |

Though the Aztek was ugly, I think we have to remember modern cars such as the Smart car. That car is not only ugly, but for some reason it angers me. I really just want to pull next to one at the stoplight and push it over, then leave.
