At least it appears that they are able to afford the move to the US.

A year or two ago M&M was saying the time was perfect to step into the U.S. market; I think it was, too. That said, maybe they had over-riding reasons for holding off- but it's going to cost them for a good while. I'd bet the good folks here (GV and their dealers) are none too happy to see that M&M is in the chips while they still have no product to sell, and the longer the delay the more Mahindra fans they lose. Maybe their idea to focus on the Mahindra name is a mistake- maybe they should pick a name that doesn't smack of the sub-continent. How about a name that combines play and work, like "the Freeloader", or "Whattahaul" for the big payload capacity, or "Zipper" because it has a peppy drivetrain. Something that doesn't say "weaselly, underhanded slime" when you read it. How about "American Eagle Personal Cargo Vehicle", and their ad campaign can say "go truck yourself".

Something tells me the Freeloader name wouldn't quite invoke the image of capabilities and hard working. Can't image why..........

On a more serious/practical note we do have to keep in mind that there are probably only about 2-5k people in the US that even know about Mahindra's intentions so the remainder of the market isn't even aware of all these problems. They'll just wake up one day and there will be a new truck on the market.

Stellar. I officially nominate this quote for the 'Mahindra Truck Forum, Post of the Year' award. If you win, you get the keys to a brand new Freeloader XL...

It’s definitely “unknown.” They’ve only entered the tractor market in the US. They’re much more familiar with the Indian UV market, in which they are the dominant player. However, this definitely shouldn’t stop them from coming. They’ve got in their hands two solid trucks which will bring a breath of fresh air to the dying compact pickup segment.
