And piggybacking on EPA approval - reports out that Mahindra has ended its relationship with GV. What does that mean for the dealers that GV help set up?

I picked this up off the web, but didn't want to post a link due to a virus that popped up from the site:

Quote:
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), one of India’s leading automobile manufacturers, has become the first Indian automobile manufacturer to receive the Light Duty Diesel Federal Tier-2 BIN-5 and OBD II Compliance Certificate from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), USA, on August 17, 2010. With this certification, Mahindra has joined a select group of global automobile manufacturers who have received this certification for diesel powered Light Duty Vehicle (LDVs).

Mahindra’s product development team, ably supported by its consultants and suppliers met Tier-2 BIN-5 Emissions, while achieving its fuel efficiency target.

Mahindra used top end Diesel Technology, namely Piezo 1800 bar Common Rail System, Fourth Generation Boosting and SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) catalytic technology in order to comply with Tier-2 Bin-5 Emission norms.

Thought this might be helpful

Just a thought, but could Mahindra have dragging their feet for the last year just to get out of the contract with GV ?????????

Another thought- maybe we'll be able to find some hard technical data for the trucks on the EPA's website? Horsepower, mileage, etc.

nothing on "fuel economy.gov" yet, but it probably takes a while to get there.
Wonder how the crash tests went?

I would be willing to bet that the culprit is m&m.It seems to me that they thrive on messing with those they have contracts with. Now it's right down to the dealer and what people wear. This truly blows me away.

What really worries me is if m&m get a bug up their a$$ with the dealers and service people, how will that effect the consumers who have no choice but to go to their authorized dealer for service. Will m&m back the dealers with parts? With tech support?Or will they cop an attitude because someone is wearing a shirt they don't like and withhold stuff, leaving the customer with a brand new broken truck and a service dept waiting on parts?

m&m's track record in this country sux a big one.People/customers should be cautious as hell from here on in.Sure they have a lineup we've all been waiting for,but the trust in that company will be hard to come by once they start to advertise and folks check into it and see where they have gone so far.Caveat Em-tor.

This is exactly the reason they need Global Vehicles. Nobody wants to deal with a company that behaves like M&M, if they end up doing distribution in-house I wouldn't touch them. With Global in charge of dealers and everything state-side, there is a sense that you are dealing with honorable people. M&M seems to be too stupid to see that the best thing they could do for their own interests is to get their manipulating hands off the operations here, and let GV do the job they were contracted to do.
