Register to stop seeing this ad! Global Vehicles has jusost of the other trucks available in the US market today. With clean-burning engines that produce 30% less greenhouse gases than their counterparts and get 30 miles per gallon on the highway, the Mahindra trucks can give existing truckers or otherwise,* exactly what they need today. The Mahindra 2-door and 4-door diesel trucks have a 6-speed automatic transmission, electronic stability control, traction control, active rollover mitigation, 4-wheel ABS brakes, and best of all, its turbo diesel engine runs on 140 horsepower and 236 ft-lbs of torque. It also has an amazing payload capacity of 2,765 lbs., better than the standard pickups offered by Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Nissan and Dodge. It also looks like their February 2010 launch may push through at over 350 dealers nationwide. The Mahindra trucks will be backed by a 4-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and all 350 dealers will be servicing the trucks themselves.Refer to the TR20 [...]More... |

I am ignorant of diesels so someone help me please.
This truck is rated for 2765lbs payload and I think I saw somewhere that its tow rating will be around 5000lbs. Am I the only one who finds the specs for the engine a little light for this type ratings? I am sure if the build it right, that it can carry this weight or tow that load, but will it be able to get up to 65mph within a couple miles? I am not trying to be negative here but it seems like this is going to quite the slowpoke. The torque in this isn't much better than my 3.0 V6 and I got 70 more hp. So, it will be better with grunt off the line at much lower rpm but that's about it. I look forward to test driving it, but I won't have any idea what it does towing a 2500lb trailer. |

To respond to your concern about this trucks ability to haul and tow the rated numbers I'll give you this.
The truck I will be replacing is a I-6 300 gas engine F150. Its pretty much shot, tired, worn out etc. If memory serves me that engine was about 190HP and the torque was 200 something ft -lb new. It towed very well over the years and hauled about every thing I could throw in it. The TR40 will also but not be fast when loaded. I think the torque of the I-4 diesel's torque will offset the lower HP and do well performing to the rated numbers. It will not be a hole shot vehicle passing everything on the road. It will be an adequate vehicle to meet the occasional need for hauling and towing of an average person who is active. It really changes the game since now you dont need a truck for work and a car for higher mileage. I'm dumping 2 and going with one, the TR40. I will be test driving one ASAP and I will give my opinion of it here for all. J |

I guess I worry about me, the wife, two kids, and modest if not small camper. That sounds like a big task for 140hp. |

Diesels make alot of torque at a lower rpm.
This is one reason they get better fuel mileage. Alot of gas engines make less torque than HP. Most gas engines also make their HP at a higher rpm than a diesel will even turn. I would imagine that this truck is pretty light in the curb weight area,so it will run pretty good I believe. Im looking forward to driving one. |

I don't drag race anymore. I don't care who makes the next stop light the quickest!!!! I do care about the pocket book and safety and getting the job done. I believe maturity makes a big difference in the picture.
Some people see and understand and lead the way. Others see and learn but don't lead they follow. I have believed a truck like this was needed for many years but seeing nothing offered I purchased from what is available. Well now I see something thats what I have been seeking. |
