Another thing to consider...has anyone actually seen what the actual US version will look like? Weren't they going to be tweaking it a little bit to look more Americanish?

Honestly the grill and front end don't look bad, different from the norm but not bad. What looks bad/off to me is the greenhouse. The angles and proportions just seem off, like they designed the cab for one purpose and the chassis and front end by another department and merged them together on the assembly line.

I hope in the first update in the next couple of years that the cab/greenhouse is sloped more to be aerodynamic and that alone would help the "angles" of the vehicle a ton. It would in no doubt improve highway mileage too.

As a side note to the couple of dealers who are members of the forum, are you guys getting any info on specs yet since the trucks should be here in the next 6-8 weeks? Perhaps you are bound by a contract not to be able to say but we all appreciate the insight you guys have given and I am sure those of us who will buy would likely give you guys the business becuase you have been forthcoming with info/pics.

On anthoer note, did anyone else notice in those Utah spy photos that the outside hooks/anchors under the bed rail were missing? I guess we now know the fate of those.

I loved my boat anchors on the inside of the bed in my old Dodge and having some on the outside would be great too.

Default funky design

The weird looks come about because Mahindra didn't design the TR20 and TR40, they designed a SUV, then chopped it off and added a bed to create the TR20 and TR40 ala Dr. Frankenstein. They already made pickup trucks like the Maxximo and Gio for the Indian market, and the Scorpio SUV is a more luxurious vehicle aimed at more affluent customers. The pickup variant is almost like the Ford Explorer pickup version- it is an offshoot of a different type of vehicle. Since we like creature comforts with our trucks, we get that version of their vehicle. I understand that the model life ends with this one, and a redesigned vehicle is to follow. I wouldn't be surprised to see a TR20 and TR40 appear that was designed at the drawing table instead of the factory floor, so it may be much more pleasing to the eye (couldn't be worse, could it?). The information that I recall is that this is the year the new model was to come out, and the question was why introduce the model we are seeing at all? The question is whether this model will become a collectible or an embarrassment.

I knew it was based on the Scorpio and what you said makes sense. Since I am in no rush other than I just want one I can ceratinly wait for the gen 2 vehicle to come out in another year or two.

With my wife finishing school it is probably smarter money wise for me to wait anyway. It's cheaper to rent a truck for a day than to buy one for occasional truck use anyway.

Sweet! On my home turf even!
Now...if they'd drive that sucker up to my door step I'd take all the pictures they want...and share them with all of you (right after I took the sucker for a spin!)

Default TR40 at speed

I just found this vid on You-Tube. A TR40 on the German autobahn. It looks suspiciously like the one in Mahindra Planet's pics.

YouTube - Mahindra Scorpio on German Autobahn

Don't know how long it took to get to speed, but it looks like it'll move once it gets there...

cheers,

Sorry if I twisted your crank with honesty. But the facts is I am still interested, they just have to EARN my faith.Through this so called bad economy my business has grown in leaps and bounds, that due to good customer service, the right price and most of all RELIABILITY(not dragging your customers on and on). I have also been told by someone at Toyota that they are keeping a very very close eye on Mahindra . If these Mahindra's sale . Toyota will have a diesel in the Tacoma in about 3-6 months. Today in the mail I got a card from Ford about the new 2011 Fiesta coming out this summer, I can even go to the Ford web site to build and reserve, why cant Mahindra do this?????In all honesty I don't see Mahindra's on a lot here til September like the one dealer said on here. But I am still interested, just not in a hurry anymore???

What they first got my attention with was a $13,000.00 truck (4x2) that gets 40 mpg, they now want $22,000.00. Thats way too much for an unproven truck, not to mention this companies lack of communication and how that may come into play if I need a fuel pump ect....At this point I have decided to get a small car which I can do about 90% of the work I need to do in, and keep the gas hog 4.0 Ranger.Maybe a Hyundai Accent at 37 mpg? So for now Mahindra is off my list...
Find me the article that ever said these trucks would cost $13,000. I've been following this for a while and all I've ever seen said the would start in the low 20's.
