Frankly, I don't care if they are or not. Dodge Regular cabs are built in Mexico and that certainly would not keep me from buying one.

whatever. Media.Ford.Com says it just finished changing the plant over from 150/250/350 assembly to the new Fiesta. So I reckon we're both right.

Default Ford Kansas City plant.

This just in:

Escape/Escape Hybrid/Mariner/Tribute assembly is ending at the Kansas City assembly line.

If we are good boys and girls here in Kansas City, the largest of the above-mentioned facilities will be assembling the Transit Connect (now assembled in Turkey) in addition to the F-Series!

Trivia: besides the rare, ever-sought-after and collectable Ford Claycomo , this plant assembled wings for the B-47 Bomber at the beginning of the Cold War.

To top it off that is likely only final assembly. Anyone want to guess where all the parts and panels come from?!

I know the engine is made in Spain...

The great thing about US assembly is that the 25% chicken tax disappears - which means you can get a better deal on a small van for one's small business - and a bunch of Kansas City Ford assembly workers get to keep their jobs.

My local Ford dealer does not have much to tell me positively about the fate of the Ranger or of Ecoboost engines in the F-series. Being that we are near a Ford plant, ultra-gossip usually is pretty reliable.

Yes, it sounds like M&M is a fading memory for me... I'll try to stop by the local "almost-franchise" and see what they have to report from the other end of the M&M foodchain...

Sad truth is the price won't come down with-out the chicken tax due to high union wages..

EDIT:

Once again someone has touched one of my "buttons" - making blanket generalizations about society's institutions. I believe that all of the comon institutions in American society generally have their purposes: Liberals, Conservatives, Unions, etc. There are a few that I think that could use a good whacking with a tire-tool for additude adjustment purposes - most notably the ACLU, PETA, etc.

That said, dear reader, in the time between the original version of this particular post was made and this edit, I have calmed down a bit. I still fervently believe in what I have written - both subjectively and objectively. I also respect the opinions of others. So if you really don't aggree with what I think, I'm down with that. Just don't make a fool of yourself by supporting your position on the sands of illogic and assumptive arguments.

END EDIT

PULLLEEEEASE!

Ponder this:

Which carmaker did NOT go for the goverment bail out?

Ford.

Which carmaker has been working with it's union employees (and vice-versa) to make sure that wagecost/working conditions are fair and balanced?

Ford.

Whose common stock has risen from less than $6.70 to over $12.51 per share in less than one year?

Ford.

Can you name a North American carmaker that does not use union labor on their assembly lines?

I didn't think so.

Please don't throw the "union card" because it "sounds like the right thing to do".

When the Ford Transit Connect begins production in the US (whereever that may be), count on the buyer to be able to make some serious deals on that vehicle while Ford makes a fair profit on it.

Respectfully,

Respectfully,
Yes I agree that ford is in MUCH better shape all the way around, and far ahead of Mopar and GMC.. They had already avoided the chicken tax by shipping them all with back seats. The question is will higher union wages out weigh the money saved on shipping and cheap Turkey labor. This could also help the war on terror by removing jobs from a country with alot of terrorist connections.
