Register to stop seeing this ad! From what I am reading ( if you read between the lines ) Ford is going to sell as many in the higher price range before it goes in an xl work truck. I really don't think you'll see one in an xl for at least a year later, I hope I'm wrong... |

I hate to admit it, but these EcoBoost engines are looking damn skippy. If Ford just draws up a new Ranger (or brings in the Global Ranger) and sticks some EcoBoost engine options in it, they probably wouldn’t even need to consider a diesel option. Sounds like a good rumor to start.
The sad thing about the new F150 powertrain options is that the manual transmission is dead.

It sounds like the Ecoboost will be about a $3-4k option, plus probably another $800-1000 for a tranny upgrade. That would buy a lot of gas versus the 3.7 V6. I think that is the way I'd lean unless I needed towing capacity.

From what I've read the ecoboost is supposed to be a direct replacement for the 5.4 and cost about the same.
Ford is charging that much for the ecoboost in Flex's and SHO Taurus but it's packaged with a ton of options as well. In the F150 it's supposed to be offered across all trim lines. They are only offering one transmission so there will be no upgrade there. |

I saw this a long time ago. I thought we all knew that the 4.4 was going to the "prestige group" or whatever Ford called Aston, Land Rover, Jag and Vovlo at the time. I do think this would be a wise investment to bring over in the Econoline/transit, F150 & 250 along with full-size SUV's. I see plenty of Sprinter vans around so I know there is a market for an economical van even if it does start north of $40k.
they could de-tune it to 3.3 liters and have 230 hp and 385 lbs of torque for the econoline/transit and F150 only. That is adequate for fleet/commercial use |
