Ford has now released the price of the new 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel engine to debut next year. The retail price of this new engine is $7,835, which is exactly the same price offered on the 6.4-liter V8. That’s lower than both GM and RAM’s offerings.
The Ford Super Duty will also not be offered in manual transmission for the 2011 F-Series Super Duty and the base price mentioned will include the six-speed automatic transmission offered standard on the trucks.
A few key points worth mentioning is the fact that Ford has just ended their very long relationship with Navistar and is designing and building this engine independently for the first time in years. In addition, the state will now be requiring all diesel engines manufactured after January 1, 2010 to comply with stricter emission standards that has forced Ford’s competitors to make significant price increases.
To be able to comply with this new federal standard, Ford is using the new Diesel Exhaust Fluid system or DEF system, which can break down harmful Nitrogen Oxide gases into Nitrogen and water vapor when combined with heat and a catalytic converter. This also means periodic DEF refills as an added maintenance to your engine.
