The truck finalists include the Ford Transit Connect, the Chevrolet Equinox and the Subaru Outback, while the Ford Fusion Hybrid, the Buick LaCrosse and the Volkswagen Golf are the final three cars that made it through to the last round of voting. The panel of judges are composed of 49 esteemed automotive journalists from both the Unites States and Canada representing television, magazines, newspapers, radio and websites. The winners of the said competition, the North American Car and Truck*Awards, will be announced at a news conference at the Detroit Auto Show on January 11, 2010.
Last year, the highest honors were given to the Hyundai Genesis and the Ford F-150 for the Car and Truck Awards respectively.*This is the 17th year that these awards are handed out to recognize the best vehicles of the year considering factors such as design, safety, innovation, handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar. Out of the more than 50 candidates, only 16 cars and 10 trucks were considered for the initial ballot this year.
